Volunteering at a hospital? (Top Contributer help)?

I am going to volunteer at a hospital and I really want to be a neurosurgeon when i grow up. I am going to enter my sophemore year of highschool after this summer. Will this help me in any way to achieve my goal and does anyone have some detailed tips to get into the right college to become a doctor and ten a neurosurgeon
